    A licensed psychotherapist since 1990, I practice in the modalities of individual, couples, family counseling and yoga therapy.  I am also a Certified Yoga Instructor and have maintained a thriving private psychotherapy practice in Rye, New York for over thirteen years specializing in depression, generalized anxiety and social anxiety disorders.

    I have written articles and provided expert commentary to leading news organizations such as The New York TImes, News 12, WVOX, Westchester Parents, NY Metro Parents and Westchester Family and I have lectured at schools in Westchester and Fairfield counties.

    As the mother of four children, I experience firsthand how the multitude of interconnecting relationships and stresses affect the emotional health of individuals and families.  As a result, in my work, I make every effort to gain as much insight into the root causes of the problems facing my clients.   Sometimes this involves collaboration with school, therapy or medical providers.  Only when the issues and various dynamics impacting on them are thoroughly understood do I determine the best course of treatment.
  • About My Philosophy

    Recognizing that each client is unique, I draw on different counseling techniques and philosophies depending upon the particular needs and circumstances of the client or family.  My primary tools are psychodynamic counseling, commonly known as "talk" therapy; Family Systems therapy, which is the process of understanding how an individual impacts upon the family and how that family reacts to that individual; and Yoga Therapy.  Through integration of the body and mind, Yoga Therapy can often be a highly effective therapeutic treatment method.  By taking what I know works and combining these established treatments with newer techniques and theories, I am able to customize the psychotherapeutic approach I use to address each client’s individual needs and assist them in their own, personal journey.

    My professional journey began over two decades ago.  I received a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan and later a MSW from New York University School of Social Work.  My desire to always do the best I can for my clients has motivated me to continually explore new treatment techniques, alternate thinking and theories including advanced training in Family Systems Therapy. 
  • About How I Integrate Yoga and Mindfulness Techniques

    Several years ago my own personal path led me to study the study of yoga.  Having experienced what yoga and mindfulness training did for me, I began to explore how I could bring the benefits of this discipline to my clients.  I trained as a yoga instructor at Kaia Yoga and received certification from the Yoga Alliance.  Continuing my education and development in the fields of psychotherapy, mindfulness techniques and yoga enables me to stay on the cutting edge, evolving my practice to include treatments, ideas and new techniques.  The integration yoga and mindfulness techniques in my psychotherapy practice has come with incredible success for my clients.  I have worked with clients with years of past psychotherapy experience who have found these new approaches enable them to breakthrough emotional barriers.  Some have found that Yoga Therapy helps them to find a different focus and deeper understanding of themselves and the issues and obstacles they face. As Yoga Therapy is a relatively new and evolving treatment form, I continue to learn and grow.  My ongoing coursework includes study in Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques, Buddhism and Mental Health, and Restorative Yoga.
