Lauren Rose, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

About Me

Since 1990, I have practiced in the modalities of individual, couples, family counseling and yoga therapy.  I am also a Certified Yoga Instructor and have maintained a thriving private psychotherapy practice in Rye Brook, New York for over 25 years specializing in depression, generalized anxiety and social anxiety disorders. I have written articles and provided expert commentary to leading news organizations such as The New York TImes, News 12, WVOX, Westchester Parents, NY Metro Parents and Westchester Family and I have lectured at schools in Westchester and Fairfield counties.   As the mother of four children, I experience firsthand how the multitude of interconnecting relationships and stresses affect the emotional health of individuals and families.  As a result, in my work, I make every effort to gain as much insight into the root causes of the problems facing my clients.

About My Philosophy

Recognizing that each client is unique, I draw on different counseling techniques and philosophies depending upon their particular needs and circumstances..  My primary tools are psychodynamic counseling, commonly known as "talk" therapy; Family Systems therapy, which is the process of understanding how an individual impacts upon the family and how that family reacts to that individual; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Yoga Therapy, integration of the body and mind.  By combining these treatments and techniques, I am able to customize the psychotherapeutic approach I use to address each client’s individual needs and assist them in their own, personal journey.

About My Training

My professional journey began over three decades ago.  I received a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan and later a MSW from New York University School of Social Work.  My desire to always do the best I can for my clients has motivated me to continually explore new treatment techniques, alternative thinking and theories including advanced training in CBT, EMDR, Family Systems Therapy, Yoga Instruction, Meditation and Mindfulness..

Choosing a therapist and a treatment style can be difficult. The relationship established with the treating therapist is as important as the therapeutic style. Through trust and connection with the therapist, clients are able to begin the process of self-reflection, self-revelation and healing. Please feel free to contact me if you have additional questions.
