Parent Training and Support

As the mother of four, I understand both personally and professionally the challenges of parenting.  In addition to counseling mothers suffering from postpartum depression, I also provide guidance and support to new parents as they deal with the stresses including sleep deprivation, sleep training, sibling conflicts and changes in their marriage. I help parents understand their children's physical and emotional development and behavior. We can discuss age appropriate and typical behaviors and atypical or problematic concerns.

EMDR

I am a trained EMDR therapist. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a psychotherapy method which has been extensively researched and proven to be a highly effective, rapid method to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders.

CBT

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression and anxiety disorders, as well as many other conditions. Work involves learning to recognize and change problematic thinking, emotions and behaviors.

Couples Counseling

Our relationships with others can be the source of great joy and also the cause of intense pain. Our work starts from the present and looks back to understand what brought you together and to the place where you are today. Together we aim to better understand yourself and your partner while learning to hear and appreciate each other's perspective and to better express your own. Couples therapy brings a couple closer by working through conflict and rebuilding their connection, intimacy and partnership.

Yoga Therapy & Mindfulness Training

Yoga is not only a tool for relaxation and stress reduction, but can also be used as a method to connect to the inner self in a more compassionate, non-judgmental way. The combination of yoga and psychotherapeutic techniques can lead clients to a deeper understanding of themselves and their core issues. Through work with breath and body sensations and mindfulness techniques learn to focus on the present and escape constant thoughts in your mind. With this enhanced self-awareness, work can begin to develop improved self-esteem, coping mechanisms and patterns of behavior for a happier, less stress filled life.

Family Systems Therapy

Work with families often revolves around life transitions such as separation or divorce, blending families or dealing with changes involving a major illness or death of a family member. Sometimes there is just too much conflict and not enough joy. Family therapy can involve the whole family or parts of the family and this can vary over the course of therapy .At different times in the course of treatment, the whole family or parts may be involved in this valuable experience.
